Black Friday, where did this craziness come from?

well it's that time of year again when we all get a little bit crazy over grabbing a bargain. In this weeks blog we thought we'd try to delve in to where Black Friday came from. There are lots of different stories about how Black Friday began, some say it began in the late 1800's when a two greedy business men tried to buy up all the gold eventually causing a crash that was referred to as Black Friday . Another suggestion was that it came from a business term for coming out of the red. It was thought that companies struggled for most of the year, until the Thanksgiving holiday when people had the time off to take advantage of the low prices, which would push businesses back into the red. It's also been claimed that it was the large department store, Macy's that in 1924 began their famous Thanksgiving Day parade, and noticed a large jump in sales the day after. Pigeon Shooting Season is here! Pigeon shooting season is upon us again and we here at Reid Outdoors   are hoping that your shooting days go so well that you have an abundance of birds. So we've put together a selection of our favourite recipes to help you get the most from your rewards. Pigeon & Beetroot Salad This is one our favourite recipes on the BBC Good Food website. The game, fruit and beetroot really compliment each other. Ingredients: 1 tbsp  olive oil 1 garlic clove 1 rosemary Sprig 4 pigeon breasts 100g bag washed watercress 1 eating apple 4 cooked beetroots (not in vinegar) 100g toasted roughly chopped hazelnuts For the dressing 1 tsbp balsamic vinegar 3 tsbp olive oil Method Make the dressing by mixing the balsamic and olive oil together.
