Welcome to Reid Outdoors new blog




Back in 1972 our family started a business on the island of Islay, manufacturing gear for the fishing industry. Over the years the business and family grew and we decided to move both to the sunnier end of the country and start a new life in Devon.

Devon gave us a larger fishing industry to work with and with it’s long sunny days a chance to pursue more coastal and countryside pursuits. As we became more involved in the regions fishing and shooting activities we found that there was a lack of places to buy the equipment to fully enjoy our hobbies. With the support of our friends in 2013 we opened our own store, specialising in country sports.

Today we have a successful business where we can share our passions and knowledge with our wonderful customers. To give our clients a more stream lined shopping experience we have developed a new website which has removed the old style drop down menus in favour of the cleaner tile click system. This will enable even the least techie among us to navigate the site with ease.

The aim of our blog is give you information about our products and special offers, as well as bringing you guides on new country pursuits you might like to try.

Delicious recipes to make the most of your pigeon shoot!

Pigeon Shooting Season is here! Pigeon shooting season is upon us again and we here at Reid Outdoors   are hoping that your shooting days go so well that you have an abundance of birds. So we've put together a selection of our favourite recipes to help you get the most from your rewards. Pigeon & Beetroot Salad This is one our favourite recipes on the BBC Good Food website. The game, fruit and beetroot really compliment each other. Ingredients: 1 tbsp  olive oil 1 garlic clove 1 rosemary Sprig 4 pigeon breasts 100g bag washed watercress 1 eating apple 4 cooked beetroots (not in vinegar) 100g toasted roughly chopped hazelnuts For the dressing 1 tsbp balsamic vinegar 3 tsbp olive oil Method Make the dressing by mixing the balsamic and olive oil together.
