Spaniels Make Great Gundogs!

Here at Reid Outdoors we love our Spaniels and believe that they make great gun dogs. It's not just about Cockers and Singers there are many other wonderful breads of spaniels that you should get to know.

American Water Spaniel

This brown Spaniel was originally developed in the Mid West of America. They love the water and will even dive off boats to retrieve ducks and waterfowl. 

Sussex Spaniel



The Sussex Spaniel can some times be accused of being slower than other spaniels, but don't be fooled once they get the sent of a bird they soon get on the sent. These dogs are great for hunting in the densest undergrowth as they have think protective skin.

Irish Water Spaniel

This Spaniel has a curly coat, they love spending time in the water making them great duck retrievers. They're agile with a great sense of fun.

Cumber Spaniel

The Clumber has been a working dog for over 200 years, they are exceptional gundogs and many compete in filed trials. Like the Sussex Spaniel they can seem a bit chilled and some would even think them lazy, but once they're out on the hunt there's no stopping this determined breed. They are also the cutest puppies you'll ever see. Be warned though when walking a Clumber puppy, you won't any where fast, for all the people stopping for puppy cuddles.

Delicious recipes to make the most of your pigeon shoot!

Pigeon Shooting Season is here! Pigeon shooting season is upon us again and we here at Reid Outdoors   are hoping that your shooting days go so well that you have an abundance of birds. So we've put together a selection of our favourite recipes to help you get the most from your rewards. Pigeon & Beetroot Salad This is one our favourite recipes on the BBC Good Food website. The game, fruit and beetroot really compliment each other. Ingredients: 1 tbsp  olive oil 1 garlic clove 1 rosemary Sprig 4 pigeon breasts 100g bag washed watercress 1 eating apple 4 cooked beetroots (not in vinegar) 100g toasted roughly chopped hazelnuts For the dressing 1 tsbp balsamic vinegar 3 tsbp olive oil Method Make the dressing by mixing the balsamic and olive oil together.
